Prithvi Gandharv, Jeffrey Iqbal added to Shreya Ghoshal concert line-up
The Guyana National Stadium is the place to be on October 14 when the reigning playback queen of Bollywood, Shreya Ghoshal and her troupe take to the stage at Diwali Utsav, hosted by the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha.
Alongside the talented and gorgeous Ghoshal will be rising stars Prithvi Gandharv and Jeffrey Iqbal.
This is the first activity of the month-long celebration of Diwali hosted by the Sabha this year.
Iqbal got his break when the Academy Award and Grammy Award winning music director of “Slum Dog Millionaire”, AR Rahman, chose him to perform on his tour in New York City in 2007.
He later represented the USA on Zee TV’s popular show “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa”. Iqbal is known for his energetic and dynamite performances.
Winner of four National Film Awards, eight Filmfare Awards, five IIFA Awards, five Screen Awards and numerous others, Ghoshal is the most recognised female playback singer in the Indian film industry today. Probably the youngest singer with four national awards at age 28, she has toured and performed all over the world and captivated audiences with her beauty, charm, audience rapport, and musical ability.
Ghoshal has worked in more than 180 films and is listed among Asia’s top five female singers for 2012. She has been a judge for Star Voice of India – Chhote Ustaa and was one of the judges in X Factor (India) with Sonu Nigam and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Her performance as a team leader and a singer in “Music Ka Maha Muqabala” was outstanding. On tour in North America and the Caribbean, Ghoshal makes her final stop here. This will be her first performance in Guyana.
Ghoshal comes to Guyana at a time when her career is at its peak. She has had back-to-back hits like “Ooh la la Ooh la la” from the “Dirty Picture”; “ChikniChameli” from “Agneepath”; and “Teri Meri” from “Bodyguard”.
Also performing at the event will be the sabha’s dance troupe, the Dharmic Nritya Sangh just out of an amazing Naya Zamana, and some of Guyana’s top singers. Sound and lighting technicians are part of Ghoshal’s troupe and will help to ensure a truly spectacular concert. The concert starts at 18:30h.
