Shreya Ghoshal owes her career to parents
Shreya Ghoshal who won the hearts of music lovers with her voice in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Devdas’, was recently in New Delhi for the ‘Kala Shree Music Awards 2004’. Shreya became a popular playback singer in a very short span of time. She talks with the smashits team and expresses her love for music and also elaborates her future plans.
How did you become popular in a very short time?
Yes, it is true that I got success in a very short time. I would like to tell you that I have done a lot of hard work to get to this position. But it is also true that the love and appreciation, which audiences have given to me is the main reason of my success.
Who do you give credit for your success?
The whole credit goes to my parents and my teacher. They made me so perfect that today I can say that yes I am Shreya Ghoshal.
How do you feel after getting this award?
I am very thankful to Punjabi Kala Sangam that has chosen me for this award. I am also thankful to the Dilliwalaas who showed such an interest in me and gave me such a prestigious award.
As a singer what would you think about the present condition of India?
You see, I am not a politician and I don’t know anything about politics. But I would like to say that we are Indians and we all have to work for strengthening our country. And as a singer I will do whatever I can do.
Do have any future plan to do act in any movie?
No. Not at all. I am singer and I want to be remain a singer only. I want to pay my full attention to singing.
Shreya Ghoshal’s father, Bishwajit Ghoshal is an electrical engineer and works for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India, and her mother, Sarmistha Ghoshal, is a post-graduate in Literature.
