The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha will bring another epic show to the National Stadium on October 14. As part of a month of activities in celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights, the versatile, talented and gorgeous Shreya Ghoshal will be here to perform, along with a troupe of 25 from India, including musicians, dancers, and two male singers.

This grand concert will launch the month of activities, which will include countrywide motorcades, rangoli, and art competitions. The public is advised to book their tickets very early and note the dates of all these exciting events, which will precede Diwali (November 13).

Following on the heels of the exhilarating Sonu Nigam concert and fantastic, sold- out Naya Zamana 17, the Shreya Ghoshal concert promises to be an entertaining and exciting event. It will also feature local artistes, including Dharmic NrityaSangh.

The winner of four National Film Awards, five Filmfare Awards, five IIFA Awards, five Screen Awards and numerous others, Ghoshal is the most decorated female playback singer in the Indian film industry today.

Probably the youngest singer (age 28) with four national awards, Ghoshal’s talents extends to nine languages.

Her career began when she won the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contest. She caught the attention of legendary director Sanjay LeelaBhansali. In 2000, he offered her the opportunity to be the voice of Paro, the lead female character of the film “Devdas”, who was portrayed by Aishwarya Rai. Shreya sang five songs in the film.

Her performance won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer, as well as Filmfare’s RD Burman Award for New Music Talent. She also won the National Film Award for the song “BairiPiya”.
Among her most popular songs are Guyanese favourites “Teri Ore” and “Dhola Re Dhola” from “Devdas”; “Dhoom Tana” and “Om Shanti Om” from “Om Shanti Om”; and Piya O re Piya.

This year, Ghoshal is at the top of the charts with the dance numbers “Ooh la la ooh la la” and “Chikni Chameli”.

She has toured and performed all over the world, and captivated audiences with her beauty, charming personality, and above all, her musical ability.

She has worked in more than 180 films, and is also listed among Asia’s top five female singers for 2012. Her performance as a team leader and a singer in “Music Ka Maha Muqabala” was outstanding.

On tour in North America and the Caribbean, Ghoshal makes her final stop in Guyana and brings with her a full troupe of musicians, lighting and sound engineers, dancers from India, and two male singers, Jeffrey Iqbal and Prithvi Gandharva.

Tickets for the concert are VVIP – $20,000; VIP – $5000; general seating $2500; and standing $1500.
