Time to ‘Rock n Roll’ with popular Bollywood singers at ‘Qutub Festival’
The performers includes top Bollywood singers like Shaan, Hariharan, Shreya Ghoshal, Arif Lohar and Mohit Chauhan.

The musical extravaganza of modern contemporary music is slated to begin from November 15-November 19 at Qutub Minar

Delhi Government will be organizing its annual carnival of modern contemporary music ‘Qutub Festival’ featuring top Bollywood singers at the backdrop of the majestic Qutub Minar from Nov 15 to 19.

The five-day music extravaganza will see the big names of music industry like Shan, Hariharan, Shreya Ghoshal, Mohit Chauhan and popular Pakistani Sufi singer Arif Lohar live in concert making the Delhiites groove on their popular numbers.

Organized by Department of Art, Culture and Languages, (Govt. of Delhi) and Punjabi Academy, the much-awaited music festival will also have the performance of Astitva Band on its first day making the event more bigger and better. The event is a part of ongoing Delhi Celebrates, an initiative taken by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. Delhi Celebrates is nearly six months long festivities to celebrate the rich and composite culture of India and the national capital.

This will be the third time that the capital will witness the remarkable music festival in a nouveau format at the fascinating Qutub Minar. This ancient architectural wonder is one of the most popular and hugely appreciated tourist spot of India.

According to Mr. Rawail Singh, Secretary Punjabi Academy, “Right from its inception, Qutub Festival has elucidated euphoric response from people of Delhi. Held on the backdrop of world famous Qutub Minar, the festival has a unique character and gives soul-stirring experience. Big names from the Bollywood music industry in different genres will perform under one roof. We are confident and sure that the audience will appreciate and welcome this musical extravaganza with open arms. This festival will showcase a different musical marvel every day.”

The performance will start at 7 PM every day.

The schedule of this musical extravaganza is as follows:
November 15 th, 2012 – Shaan &Astitva Band
November 16 th, 2012 – Hariharan
November 17 th, 2012 – Shreya Ghoshal,
November 18 th, 2012 – Arif Lohar &
November 19 th, 2012 – Mohit Chauhan

Entry to this riveting musical feast will be through free-of-cost passes that can be availed from the following places: Dilli Haat (INA), Dilli Haat (Pitampura), Delhi Tourism Office (Baba Khadak Singh Marg) and Punjabi Academy (DDA, Community Centre, Motia Khan, Pahar Ganj) from November 12th onwards, 10 am-2 pm.

About Punjabi Academy
Delhi after independence emerged as a cosmopolitan city of diverse cultures and languages. It has always been the endeavor of the Delhi Administration to provide all possible facilities for the development and promotion of different languages and projection of the composite culture of Delhi. Thus, the Delhi Administration established the Punjabi Academy in September, 1981 to propagate and promote Punjabi language, literature and culture as an integral part of composite culture of Union Territory of Delhi.

Ever since its inception the Academy has been playing a catalytic role in the proliferation of Punjabi literary and cultural activities in the spheres of music, folk dances, seminars, symposia, short story, poetry, novel, literary criticism, drama etc and during the last two decades, the Academy has assumed a significant role and status of premier organization in the field of Punjabi language, literature and culture.
