Shreya Ghoshal to entertain SA
AWARD-WINNING Bollywood playback singer Shreya Ghoshal is set to enchant her thousands of South African fans when she performs at the ICC Durban on December 16 and on December 15 at Emperors Palace in Joburg.

The Shreya Ghoshal Concert promises to be a delightful festive season offering.

The 28-year-old is the most-awarded female playback singer in the Indian film industry. She has won four National Film Awards, eight Filmfare awards, five International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, five Screen Awards, and numerous others.

She has worked on more than 180 films and is also listed among Asia’s Top 5 female singers this year, was a judge on Star Voice of India: Chhote Ustaad and X-Factor (India).

Her hits include Ooh la la from The Dirty Picture; Chikni Chameli from Agneepath; Sachi Sachi and Tere Mast Mast do Nain from Dabbang; Teri Meri from Bodyguard; Mashallah from Ek Tha Tiger, Chikni Chameli from Agneepath, the most popular song of the year; Radha on the Dancefloor from Student of the Year and Saans from the Shahrukh Khan blockbuster Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

According to AA Bollywood Retail Stores, her songs on the popular ZeeTV soap Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli as well as Bade Acche Lagte Hain on Sony are also very popular in South Africa.

Along with her current hits, Shreya will sing her all-time hits, such as Teri Ore from Singh is King; Dola re Dola from Devdas; Bahaara from I Hate Luv Stories; Zoobi Doobi from Three Idiots; Yeh Ishq Hai from Jab We Met; Jaadu Hai Nasha from Jism, and many more. She will also perform a number of golden oldies, particularly from Lata Mangeshkar’s repertoire.

Accompanying Shreya will be up-and-coming singers, a 15-member band and sound and lighting technicians.

Speaking to Bollyworld, AA Events, who are bringing you the show, said music lovers are thrilled to have a singer of Ghoshal’s calibre coming to the country. They said they’ve been spurred on to continue bringing more Indian stars to South Africa by the “overwhelming and unprecedented” response to advance bookings for past concerts and say that they are grateful to South African audiences who have been supporting quality events.
