Shreya Ghoshal delivers on her promises in Dubai
Much before her show in Dubai on Friday, Shreya Ghoshal had promised her UAE fans the ultimate Bollywood musical experience. And boy, did she deliver.

As the Bollywood melody queen regaled the audience with some of her biggest hits, she cast her spell with Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai, got sultry with Honth Raseele Mere Honth Raseele, rowdy with Chikni Chameli, ‘dirty’ with Ooh La La La and spiritual with Tujh Me Rab Dikhta Hai.

Earlier in the evening, singer Prithvi set the atmosphere with sufi numbers Tere Vaaste Ishq Sufiyana and Dama Dam Mast Kalandar for the packed Madinat Arena audience. And before the crowd could get restless (waiting for the main act to appear), the alaap (vocal introduction), could be heard as fans cast their eyes all over the stage. She then emerged amidst dramatic smoke singing her lilting number Teri Meri Prem Kahani in a red designer wrap-around, promising her fans a captivating four-hour musical nirvana.

Ghoshal later teamed up with Prithvi for a few duets. She also performed Saans Me Meri from the yet-to-be released Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan directed by the celebrated Yash Chopra, who died last week.

Amid screams from the south Indian audience with request for Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu songs, Ghoshal lulled them into silence with several peppy numbers like Zoobi Zoobi Nache and Chikni Chameli. And when they calmed down, she paid tribute to her inspiration, Indian singing legend Lata Mangeshkar, with a repertoire of songs that touched her heart at a tender age: Lag Jaa Gale, Ajeeb Dastan Hai and Dil To Hai Dil Dil Ka among others. The retro numbers were appreciated with a thundering applause.

Then, just as it looked like she had forgotten to sing some of her best-loved hits from films like Devdas and Parineeta, it seemed Ghoshal had saved the best for last.
